The crucifix is high in the apse, behind the simple altar/table. Again, an ancient church shows the impact of Vatican II.

The church, in a very restrained classical style, adorned the altar and apse with a simple hanging and crucifix.

The Convent of San Joaquin
The Convent of San Joaquin (Convento de San Joaquin) was founded in 1689. At our visit it was about to celebrate it's tricentennial.
Not everything was serious in this convent.
