At the head of the apse is a banner as a reminder of a Papal visit. Above the altar/table with its description concering Christ: "I am the first and the last" are lamps representing the seven churches of the book of Revelation.

To the left is a balcony with a contemporary organ. On the cathedral wall is a contemporary background for a baroque Virgin Mary and cherubim.

The post Vatican II rennovation by Mathias Goeritz placed an ancient Baptismal font within a very contemporary setting at the head of the cathedral nave.
