MetadataShow full item record
In this paper I will examine the patriarchal society in Israel. First, I will examine the role of the land in this era, how people – especially women – belonged to the land and to their fathers and husbands; and how people in Israel experienced and exercised authority. Second, I will show how the people of Israel experienced God’s presence and how this led them to accept changes in their lives. Third, I will describe the situation of women in the patriarchal system, how they experienced childbirth and naming. In the last section I will show why Deborah could be accepted in a patriarchal society because their world was open to the spirit of God.
