Resumen
The House of Orange also held properties in what is now Germany and the Netherlands, thus giving William the full title of Orange-Nassau. As stadtholder he led the low countries in the war against Spain (the 80 year war). In 1584 William was assassinated and his properties in Orange together with a reward were given to the family of his assassin. Orange was ceded to France in the Treaty of Utrecht in 1713.
