Abstract

Author's note: These journal entries reflect a period of six weeks after "Catherine" had been diagnosed with an early stage of Alzheimer's disease. Although fictional, the content is based on the questions I have heard asked over and over in my twenty years of work with persons afflicted with dementia. These musings represent a possible response to the spiritual significance of the total loss of the self from this disease.
